Make a New Year’s Resolution For Your Pet

Happy New Year! As most people are setting new goals and resolutions, here are some great resolutions for your pets.

Set Up Play Dates – Stress is a silent killer as we all know and one of the best ways to relieve stress is playing with your animal. Your play date could be just you and your animal taking daily invigorating walks or inviting some friends over with their animals and letting them run in your yard.

Take an Environmental Assessment – The holiday season is now over and let’s make sure all things that could have been left behind to harm your animal are gone.

Nutritional Supplement Assessment – Now is a great time to review what supplements you are using to help your animal thrive for 2018. During the dark days of the year your animal may benefit from immune enhancing support (mushrooms, blue-green algea, vitamin C, bone broth, etc.).

 

Bone Broth

 

Benefits of bone broth?

  • Helps healthy the gut
  • Supports immune system and detoxes his liver
  • Protect joints
  • Provides minerals (incl. calcium, silicon, sulphur, magnesium and phosphorus)

 

Recipe:

 

  1. Fill crockpot with bones (use bones with a lot of joints in them for extra gelatin) and some garlic for health and flavor.
  2. Add water to completely cover the bones and 2-3 inches on top.
  3. Add 3-4 Tbsp. raw apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
  4. Heat crockpot on high for an hour, then turn down to low. Simmer for 24 hours or longer.
  5. Remove bones and meat (bones should not be fed to dogs).
  6. Add to hot broth (optional): veggies, mushrooms, herbs, etc.
  7. Let it cool down and put it in fridge.
  8. Remove fat layer. Underneath the fat, your bone broth will now look like jelly (lot of healing gelatin). If it doesn’t look like jelly, add more vinegar to the next batch. Either way it’s still good.

Store in class containers in fridge for a few days or freeze in portions.

Add some to your dog’s or cat’s food.
